Pilgrims trail

The entire Pilgrims trail in Dalsland extends from Vänersborg in the south to Edsleskog in Åmål municipality in the north. From Mellerud to Upperud, the trail mostly passes along hiking trails and country roads, where you will allso experience a handful of medieval churches.

In Upperud, the nature of the hike changes to a truly beautiful wilderness trail. For those of you who want to experience the true wild forrest of Dalsland, we recommend a trip along the northern part of the Pilgrim Trail, which can sometimes be likened to hiking on the High Coast in the northern parts of Sweden.

At Håveruds Hotel we arrange various package solutions with hotel accommodation, hiking, lunch packages or why not rent a canoe or kayak to experience the Upperudshöljen or the Dalsland Canal. These packages are customizable. The hike is recommended during spring, summer and autumn. Below are some pictures from a spring hike.

Canoe or Kayak

The Dalsland Canal's lake system is made for canoeing - a maze of large lakes with archipelago-like nature, long narrow lakes and small magical rivers. As our guest you can either paddle shorter distances over a weekend or take a longer trip for several weeks and you will discover something new and exciting, whichever option you choose. Coming this close to nature you will have the opppurtunity to experience wildlife with moose, deer, fox and maybe the luck of seeing a lynx.

The bird species are numerous and the lakes have plenty of fish.

At Håverud's hotel you have the opportunity to rent a canoe, kayak or a boat to experience more of our fantastic nature. We are happy to organize different day trips and supply you with a lunch package.

We also have fishing rods for rent if you want to try your luck of catching a pike-perch.
